Newbury WENT Caribbean!

Posted

It was as warm and colorful as the Caribbean when 100 guests gathered under the tents on the town property for NEWBURY GOES CARIBBEAN, held Friday, July 13th. Everyone registered at the Center Meeting House, received their lei and tickets for drinks, then proceeded to the tents where Mango Groove Steel Band, dressed in colorful costume, was already playing.

Pots of flowers surrounded the tents and a large antique bird cage, decorated by Judy Healey and Sally Wollensack with ferns, feathers, flowers and birds was the centerpiece of the buffet.

Tina and Bill Colehower staffed the bar and kept people refreshed with ice and drinks while Bonnie Guterl sold raffles from local businesses, followed by Joy Nowell announcing the winners.

Maureen Rosen thanked everyone who helped make the evening a success, and announced that plans are already in the works for next year’s fundraising events.

With the band already packed up and left and the bar closed, people still lingered around tables decorated with white table cloths, aqua runners, sand, shells, and fiber optic lights, laughing and taking pleasure in the company of their neighbors and friends.

Many thanks to our raffle sponsors and all who attended!
